Tian Shan Khan Tengri Motorbike Tour

One of the most motorcycle adventurous tours in Kyrgyzstan covering the views to Tian Shan mountain range, Khan Tengri Peak (7100m.alt.), Kel Suu Lake (3500m.alt.), Son Kul Lake (3000m.alt.) and many other high mountain passes. Get yourself to the wilderness of a mighty nature and feel the spirit of adventure.

Do you need to take a hot shower and WiFi every day? Then this isn’t your kind of trip. We will stay in small guesthouses, yurts, or out in the middle of nowhere. But if you have a flexible attitude, an open mind towards different cultures and are looking for a healthy dose of adventure, you might want to join us! You need to be an experienced off-road rider and used to traveling in developing countries.

Itinerary

Day 1 Bishkek – Karkara Valey

500 km of asphalt

 

It is going to be a long riding day on an asphalt road from Bishkek straight to the foot of Tian Shan range (500km).

In the morning after having some briefing you drop your lugguage into support truck, hop on the bikes and get yourself on the way.

This day coveres countryside roads through local villages, main road with stunning views of northern part of Issik Kul Lake along the way and twisty mountain roads.

Nightstay in a base camp accommodated in comfortable Yurts.

 

Day 2 Karkara – Enilchek

130 km of a challenging off road

After breakfast we saying goodbye to asphalt, crossing the border military checkpoint and hello to adventure on a gravel.

Challenging road in the wilderness, 130 km of gravel, mud and dust along a huge Sary Jaz River with the views to Khan Tengri Peak and Grand Glaciers.

Homestay in an abandoned Soviet Town of Enilchek located 2500m above the sea level next to Chinese border.

Day 3 Enilchek Karakol

100 km offroad, 40km paved road

There is a great chance to take a swim in the natural hot springs next to the conjunction of Sazy Jaz and Enilchek rivers 10 km from the town.

Today we are riding over the pass of Chon Ashu (3900m.) that offers magnificent views of rocky mountains with snow caps. 100km of gravel and after descending from the pass, asphalt road begins through local villages. Our checkpoint of this day is Karakol town.

Nightstay in a cozy and comfortable and cozy Guesthouse.

Day 4 Karakol – Barscoon

90km of pavement, 150km of gravel

After we made 90 km of asphalt road along the southern shore of Issik Kul Lake through local villages we are taking a turn up the Terskey Ala Too mountain range to place called Barscoon Waterfall, where we drop by for a lunch and then continue going up to Syek Pass (4000m.altitude) and Plato. Afterwards we going back down to the yurt camp, where we will stay for a night.

There is good time to see the monument and the place of a visit in the past of the first austronaut in the world Yuri Gagarin and also go up to the waterfall, for those who still full of energy.

Day 5 Barscoon – Tosor Pass – Naryn Town

Challengin Offroad  230km

After having a breakfast we going back on the main road and then after 30km making our way up to Tosor Pass (3950m. altitude) to reach to Naryn town.

This road is really challenging with a lot of small and a bigger river crossings. The road is mostly rocky.

After Tosor Pass we will ride through Eki Naryn National Park and conjunction of two rivers (A big and a small Naryn rivers)

The place of stay is a comfortable Hotel Khan Tengri.

Day 6 Naryn – Kel Suu Lake

30 km of asphalt 150 km of offroad

Kel-Suu is an alpine lake located at 3514 m elevation in the Kakshaal Too mountain range, central Tian Shan next to Chinese border.

The picturesque views and turquoise color of the water are worth all the difficulties.

If we arrive to the base yurt camp earlier (or next morning), we will take a local military Russian Jeep “Buchanka” (or on horses) to get straight to the lake and back to camp for a hot dinner and nightstay

 

Day 7 Kek Aygyr – Torugart – Tash Rabat

120km of offroad 100 km of pavement

After 120 km of a challenging gravel road with a lot of river crossing on a mountain Kek Aigyr Plato we will reach Torugart the border between the Naryn Region of Kyrgyzstan and the Xinjiang Autonomous Region of China.

Then we will ride on the asphalt road (100km.) to Tash Rabat.

Tash Rabat is a well preserve stone caravansarai  of 15th century situated at 3200 m altitude. Once a crucial Silk Road stop and, potentially, a 9th-10th century Nestorian monastery, it served as a secure inn for merchants traveling between Central Asia and China

Day 8 Tash Rabat – Baetovo – Son Kul

150 km of gravel 30km of asphalt roads

The Mels-Ashuu Pass is a captivating mountain passage nestled within the Naryn region, near the village of Baetovo. Standing at an elevation of 3420 meters, the pass derives its name from the initials of prominent figures K. Marx, F. Engels, V. Lenin, and I. Stalin—forming the acronym MELS. During the early decades of Soviet governance, naming conventions often employed these initials, resulting in the name Mels-Ashuu—a title that has transcended being just a pass to become a popular male name.

Moldo-Ashuu Pass is a 3200 – 3450m high is one of the most beautiful passes of Kyrgyzstan with the switchbacks of dirt and rocky roads.

After climbing up Moldo Ashu pass we wll descend down to the southern part of Son Kul Lake (3000m. alt.). A good place to watch the sunset in the horison of the mountain plato.

Day 9 Kara Keche Pass – Chaek Village _ Kyzyl Oi

120km of gravel rough roads 40 km asphalt road

This riding day is a bit easier. we will descend the Kara Keche Pass (3000m) to get to a small village of Kyzyl Oi via Chaek settlement.

The village is located in a narrow gorge on the riverside of Kokomeren River. Spending time here is ideal for those wanting to relax in the very heart of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too mountain range.

 

Day 10 Suusamir valley – Too Ashu Pass – Bishkek

70 km of gravel 130 km of asphalt roads

Suusamir valley is a very enjoyable gravel road along Kokomeren river, but better be carefull of unexpecting and invisible bumps.

First 70 km of a gravel and then we take a turn to a main paved road M41 to Bishkek via Too Ashu Pass 3350m.alt.

Before the sunset we will be back to Bishkek to put the bikes back to garage and get you to Hotel.
